Board of Stewards - Quispamsis United Church

The Board of Stewards is responsible for the finances and the maintenance of the church. The committee has fifteen members and meets the second Wednesday each month. Hally Kimball is the chair with Bill Whittaker as vice chair and John Hill as recording secretary. Brion Crossman is the Treasurer.

A budget of $144,000 was proposed and passed by the congregation. As at the end of 2008 we were $11,000 short of our objective with General Offerings being the sole cause of the short fall.

In June the manse was sold for a net value of $154,354.51. With the proceeds invested the interest generated will be used to offset the new minister’s housing allowance.

During the year more than $15,000 was spent as the minister’s office was completely renovated including a lap top computer, the bathrooms upstairs and down were redone, new flooring was installed in MacDonald Hall as well as the upstairs hall, various painting projects and a new fridge.

Routine maintenance continued around the church including upgrading the security system, installing high speed internet, upgrading the sound system, installing a wheel chair ramp, rubber feet fitted on all tables and chairs and a flat screen monitor for the secretary.

In 2009 the Board of Stewards are contemplating remodeling the stage area to also include a storage area, replacing the front stairs, remodeling the side entrance and the exterior of the church including landscaping.

The Board of Stewards would very much like to have some women sit on the committee for the variation of ideas they can bring to the table.
