Sunday School - Quispamsis United Church

Sunday School

“Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not”

The Sunday School was lead by a small group of parents committed to continuing the Sunday School program in the 2007-2008 year after Karen Young retired as the superintendent. After realizing the need for another superintendent the duties that Karen had carried out were divided into smaller divisions with a Sunday School Coordinator as the head. Kim Kimball volunteered as the new Sunday School Coordinator.

A new curriculum, Piece by Piece, was chosen for the Sunday School and teachers were found for each class. In the transition period between Karen and Kim teachers had volunteered on a week by week basis. The children, however, said that they would prefer the same teacher each week so there are now six teachers for each of the six classes. This year the Middle School and High School classes were once again split into two, Middle School held during church and High School held afterwards.

The Sunday School was run quite well by the group of parents but there was no one person to oversee everything and some things fell through the cracks. While it does still need some work, the Sunday School is starting to come back together as a cohesive program that the kids seem to enjoy.

The kids put on a White Gift/ Christmas drama at the beginning of December and Jane Reinhart joined the younger classes downstairs one Sunday to lead the kids in song. Both events were a hit with the Sunday School kids and we hope to have more events like them in the future.

The teaching positions are full until the end of May, please consider teaching as a priority in the fall, when volunteers are needed. Many people have a gift to share with our children, and teachers will be amazed at what they can learn from the experience.

Respectfully Submitted,
Kim Kimball
